It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a major film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

The preview shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the toys.
